See the fairy “little’ penguins arriving home at dusk to their chicks, between mid December to mid February. A ranger will often be there to guide you (with his red lensed torch!) and point out the chicks in their burrows, who come out to greet mum and dad on their return form the ocean at dusk.

One of Tassies best fishing spots - Port Sorell and Rubicon River. Bait fishing is exceptional in the Rubicon. The mouth opens to Bass Strait, which means that all sorts of sea creatures venture up its length — but the one that most anglers seek is the elusive Southern Black Bream. Shore-based fishermen should be aware that the mud that lines the banks of the Rubicon is deep and treacherous, so extra caution must be taken.
